In the local elections held on March 31, Şanlıurfa, which had been considered the stronghold of the AK Party for many years, was lost to the New Welfare Party. Following this situation, the AK Party dismissed Şanlıurfa Provincial Chairman Ali İhsan Delioğlu from office.
According to AK Party Headquarters sources, it has been officially announced that Ali İhsan Delioğlu has been dismissed. It was stated that Delioğlu said to his friends at the provincial administration meeting a while ago, “The Headquarters decided to continue with me.”
It was reported that Ali İhsan Delioğlu could not be reached and even the provincial administration could not be reached by phone. Now all eyes are on the new name to be appointed to replace Delioğlu.
On the other hand, in the March 31 elections, Re-Welfare Party candidate Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar won the Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayorship with 38.87 percent of the votes. AK Party’s candidate Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül was left behind in terms of vote rate.
