The 2024 results of the Digital News Report, organized annually by the Oxford University Reuters Institute for Journalism Studies, have been announced. The trust of readers in Turkey to news sources was evaluated in detail.

News Trust and Media Preferences in Turkey

According to the report, the trust rate in news in Turkey was determined as 35%. Although this value remained parallel to the previous year, a slight increase in trust in critical media organizations was observed. Among the most preferred media organizations, Haberler.com was among the top 10.

The importance of social media in news consumption in Turkey was also emphasized in the report. Especially YouTube and Instagram were among the most preferred platforms for receiving news. While the rate of receiving news from social media reached 70%, it was stated that YouTube and Instagram stood out.

Another point that attracted attention in the report was the concern about the content on social media. 59% of the survey participants stated that they were concerned about the content on social media. TikTok and X content were among the platforms that came to the fore in these concerns.
