NUCLEAR WEAPONS EXPENDITURES ARE INCREASING
National and international nuclear armament expenditures increased by 13.4% in 2023, according to the report of the Campaign for the Complete Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. The total amount of expenditure reached 91.4 billion dollars.
USA IS IN A LEADING POSITION
The USA allocated the highest budget for nuclear armament, spending 51.5 billion dollars. While China ranked second with an expenditure of 11.9 billion dollars, Russia ranked third with an expenditure of 8.3 billion dollars.
IMPACT OF COMPANIES
Companies that develop nuclear weapons play an influential role in governments. In 2023, these companies increased their influence before governments by spending $118 million on lobbying activities.
DONATIONS OF COMPANIES
Donations made to think tanks conducting research on nuclear weapons also attract attention. Companies have donated more than $6 million to think tanks and played active roles on the boards of these organizations.
