Nilüfer Municipality continues to share its successful work on sustainable and safe food issues on international platforms. In this context, the projects and contributions of Nilüfer Municipality were met with significant interest at the 11th AESOP Sustainable Food Planning Conference held in Belgium.
It was stated that representatives from 13 countries took part in the FUSILLI Project, financed by the European Union, and Nilüfer Municipality played an active role. Periodic meetings and studies carried out within the scope of the project aim to contribute to sustainable food systems.
Nilüfer Municipality delegation shared their experiences by attending conferences held in Brussels and Ghent, Belgium, between 19 and 22 June. Deputy Mayor and FUSILLI Project Financial – Legal Officer Zerrin Güleş and Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate FUSILLI Project Executive Mehmet Can Yılmaz successfully represented Nilüfer Municipality.
In the presentation titled “Agroecological Urbanism for an Urban Future”, which was one of the important sessions of the conference, agroecology practices and sustainable agriculture projects in Nilüfer were discussed in detail. Additionally, the paper titled “Socio-Metabolic Approach to Urban and Rural Connections” was shared with the participants.
In line with the FUSILLI Project’s road map covering the years 2021 – 2025, the project, which brings together the expertise of 34 partners from 13 countries, continues to take important steps in food and natural resources. The final meeting of the project will be held in Nilüfer in November this year.
