Netanyahu’s Statements on the Philadelphia Corridor
The Prime Ministry Press Office issued a written statement regarding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was considering the deployment of international forces to the Philadelphi Corridor. The statement emphasized that the news in question was “false” and drew attention to Netanyahu’s determination to maintain the Israeli army’s presence in the Philadelphi Corridor.
The Israeli army occupied the Philadelphi Corridor by carrying out a ground offensive against the Rafah region on the Egyptian border of Gaza on May 6. Before the prisoner swap negotiations, Netanyahu stated that the occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor should continue.
In addition, according to press reports, an Israeli delegation has arrived in Cairo today with Egyptian and US officials to hold talks on reopening the Philadelphia Corridor and Rafah Border Crossing. These talks are expected to be held with the aim of reducing tensions in the region and improving the humanitarian situation.
