(IZMIR) – Moto Couriers in Izmir Want Justice
Moto couriers operating in Izmir carried out an action to draw attention to the deaths of their colleagues in traffic accidents or attacks and to demand justice. In the action organized with the slogan “We Want to Live”, the couriers who lost their lives were commemorated and a call was made to include the courier profession in the category of dangerous jobs.
Motorcycle couriers gathered in the Fahrettin Altay area of Konak district and organized a convoy to Cumhuriyet Square to make their voices heard. The couriers made a press statement here and gave the message, “Do not take away our dreams, our tomorrows, our future. We want to live. We want to keep our families alive too.”
The families of the deceased couriers were also represented at the protest. Bahar Arayıcı, the mother of 25-year-old Tevfik Arayıcı, who lost his life in the Safranbolu district of Karabük, said, “My son’s murderer was released. I want justice to be served. I want those who killed my son to be “tried and arrested.”
Another courier, Fatih Cem Yılmaz, emphasized that he has been a courier for 4 years and that the loss of his colleagues should be prevented, and said, “We are after our bread, we do not want to be killed.”
Motorcycle courier Mahsun Korkmaz stated that the search for justice will continue, saying, “We want justice for the couriers who were brutally murdered. Our search for justice will continue.”
Taner Bişilen, who has been a courier for 10 years, expressed his feelings as follows: “No human being deserves death. Our understanding of justice will continue until the perpetrators are punished and their sentences are finalized. We want the courier profession to be included in the category of dangerous jobs.”
