The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is rapidly continuing the construction works of Kocadere Pond in Büyükorhan district of Bursa. It was stated that DSI aims to get maximum efficiency from agricultural lands by popularizing modern irrigation systems, to bring healthy and drinkable water to taps and to protect settlements against flood risks.
DSI General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta stated that the project in Kocadere Pond, which was built as a rock fill type, is progressing rapidly and they are focusing on completion targets. Stating that the body filling works have been completed and the spillway excavation works and transmission line works are continuing, Balta announced that the front face concrete coating works will start in July.
Sharing the information that with the completion of Kocadere Pond, the 850 thousand cubic meters of drinking and utility water needs of Bursa province, Büyükorhan district center and surrounding village settlements will be met, Balta emphasized that they value every drop of water with the understanding of sustainable water management.
