Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya, in the ‘Cybergöz-46’ operations carried out in 31 provinces centered in Adana and Edirne, a total of 7 people were killed in the operations against the crimes of Opposition to the Law No. 7258 on the Organization of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions, Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing a Crime and Laundering the Asset Values Resulting from Crime. He announced that 275 suspects with a transaction volume of 40 billion TL were caught.
In his post on his social media account, Yerlikaya touched upon the details of the Sibergöz-46 operation, which was carried out in 31 provinces, centered in Adana and Edirne. In the studies carried out by Adana Provincial Police Department’s Anti-Cyber Crimes Branch within the scope of the operation, it was determined that bets were placed on 5 different illegal betting sites through illegal betting offices established abroad. It was determined that the suspects had a total transaction volume of 7 billion TL in banks and crypto asset service providers.
As a result of the operations, 242 suspects who were determined to have laundered the proceeds of crime by taking them abroad through crypto asset service providers were caught, while 33 suspects who placed illegal bets and had a transaction volume of approximately 40 million TL in their bank accounts related to illegal betting were caught in the operation organized by the Edirne Provincial Police Department.
