Millions of Minimum Wage Earners Expect a Raise
According to the statement made today by the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, the expectations of millions of minimum wage earners for a raise in their salaries have been dashed. Harsh Reaction from Özel to the Minister’s Words
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted harshly when he heard that Minister Işıkhan had closed the doors to the minimum wage increase. Özel stated that not raising a giving was unconscionable and unfair, and criticized the failure to keep the promises made in the past. Emphasizing that the minimum wage has melted and purchasing power has fallen, Özel said that they will defend the rights of workers to the end.
“It is a Great Disrespect to All Workers”
Privately stated that not increasing the minimum wage is a great disrespect to all workers and employees whose salaries are adjusted according to the minimum wage. Stating that this decision is disrespectful, Özel stated that they will show their harshest reaction against this situation at the June 30 Kocaeli Gebze rally. He emphasized that they will do their best to defend the rights of workers.
Special added that not increasing the minimum wage is the greatest evil that can be done to the people of the country.
