In his speech as he graduated from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law as the top student, Mehmet Hasan Yacı dedicated the award he received to the students who were subjected to the oppression in Gaza.
In his graduation speech, Yacı said, “As a young lawyer who graduated from law school in Turkey today, I frankly reject the exclusion of a people from humanity and their exposure to genocide.” He drew attention to the suffering experiences in Gaza and dedicated his first place award to the students in Gaza for this reason.
Yacı, who received support from his teachers and friends throughout his school life, said, “The fact that I stood against injustice, at least with my words, on stage at Galatasaray University, and that I did not remain silent against the genocide was a natural result of the education we received.”
Yacı expressed his happiness with the congratulations he received from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç and other politicians, and stated that he also received positive reactions on social media. “It was a separate source of happiness and pride for me to have reminded him once again that Gaza is our main agenda item that never leaves the agenda,” he said.
Yacı, who underlined that he will be on the side of the oppressed in his profession in the future, said, “As young people who receive law education in three languages, we are educating ourselves today to do our part in the future.”
Yacı stated that he made the decision to speak during the developing process and that his awareness deepened with the painful realities in Palestine, and said, “It is our duty to stand against these injustices that we need to voice everywhere.”
