Forest Fire in Tokat
A large forest fire broke out yesterday at around 17:00 in the Tepekışla village of Tokat’s Erbaa district. Following the rapid notification of the fire by those who first noticed it, teams from the Forest Management Directorate, fire department personnel and Erbaa Municipality construction equipment were immediately dispatched to the scene. In addition, many support teams from surrounding districts and towns arrived at the scene.
The fire was brought under control after approximately 6 hours of intensive and dedicated efforts by the teams. However, it was reported that an area of 45 hectares was severely damaged as a result of this disaster.
In the official statement made by the Tokat Governorship, it was stated that “The fire affected an area of approximately 45 hectares, and in the extinguishing efforts, under the coordination of our Governorship; Amasya Forest Regional Directorate, Tokat, Erbaa, Niksar “, Almus Forest Operation Directorates, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, AFAD, Erbaa and surrounding district and town municipalities, Tokat Provincial Health Directorate, Tokat Provincial Special Administration and other public institutions and organizations took actively part and our citizens also supported the extinguishing efforts.”
It was reported that the fire was brought under control at 21:30 and completely extinguished at around 22:45. Cooling efforts are currently ongoing.
