The ‘International Volunteer Educators Conference’, organized in collaboration with Konak Municipality, Global Hope Network International and Social Transformation Education Culture and Art Association, was held at Alsancak Türkan Saylan Cultural Center between June 25-27. Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu met with the participants on the last day of the conference and discussed important issues in education.
Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu drew attention to the different demographic structure of Konak and emphasized the importance of efforts to solve the experienced difficulties in education in disadvantaged neighborhoods. She stated that as a municipality, they aim to create an education system that will enable children to grow up as free individuals.
Mutlu also provided information about the mother and child center planned to be opened in Kemeraltı. He stated that the center will be a place where children and their mothers can have a pleasant time and that they aim to support children who are deprived of education.
Başak Çelik, Global Hope Network International Turkey Representative and Founding President of the Social Transformation Education Culture and Art Association, thanked Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu for her support and stated that they will take strong steps together as civil society organizations.
It was stated that teachers from America also attended the conference and the subject of turning difficulties in education into opportunities was discussed. Teachers shared their own experiences and exchanged ideas on how to be successful in education in disadvantaged regions.
