Following a telephone conversation between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdulati and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi, a joint statement was issued. The statement condemned political assassinations in the Middle East and emphasized that Israel’s attacks on Gaza and its illegal practices in the occupied West Bank violated international law.
It also stated that Israel was held responsible for the dangerous escalation in the region and called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take a binding decision to halt Israel’s attacks on Gaza and end its violations of international law.
The joint statement emphasized that peace must be maintained in the region to prevent the Middle East from being dragged into a destabilizing regional conflict, especially after the recent tensions with Israel. The two countries’ statement said that the first step towards peace in the region is to stop the attacks on Gaza and end the humanitarian tragedy.
