As Israel’s attacks on Gaza continue, doctors and healthcare workers in Antalya held a protest against the targeting of civilians and healthcare institutions. On the 266th day of Israel’s attacks on Palestine, the Silent Doctors Platform, consisting of doctors and healthcare workers working in various healthcare institutions in Antalya, reacted to the civilian massacres.
Healthcare workers gathered in the courtyard of the Muratpaşa Mosque in Antalya and held a silent protest by walking along the Kapalçarlı road carrying Turkish and Palestinian flags. After the march, Dr. Nuri Bozdemir made a press statement on behalf of the group and stated that Israel was forcibly exiling people in Palestinian lands and depriving them of their homeland and property.
Bozdemir stated that thousands of people have lost their lives, hundreds of thousands have been injured and thousands of children have been orphaned in the attacks that have continued since October 7. He also emphasized that the attacks on hospitals in Gaza have rendered them inoperable and that health services in the region have been severely disrupted.
Dr. Bozdemir stated that the killing, arrest and forced migration of healthcare workers in Palestine make healthcare services even more difficult, and that the people of Gaza are left facing hunger and the dimensions of the humanitarian crisis are increasing.
Bozdemir, who emphasized that the situation in Gaza, together with the increasing health problems, is a genocide, stated that Israel has turned Gaza into a concentration camp and continues its inhumane practices in defiance of international law. Bozdemir, who stated that as health workers, they stand by the Palestinian people and will continue their support, said that they will continue to stand by their brothers in Gaza with their conscience, consciousness and prayers.
