Forest Fire Near Athens: Lambraki Evacuated
Surrounding settlements were evacuated due to a forest fire in Lambraki, 30 kilometers away from Athens, the capital of Greece. Since the fire could not be controlled, emergency measures were taken in the region.
In an urgent warning sent to citizens’ mobile phones, the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection announced that citizens in the Lambraki region near Koropi should leave the area due to fire. Due to the strong wind, the spread of the fire could not be prevented.
It was reported that the Kiçi settlement was evacuated due to the fire and some roads were closed to traffic for security reasons. While fire crews intervened from both air and land, it was stated that the wind reaching 90 kilometers per hour made extinguishing efforts difficult.
