It was reported that teams were working hard against the forest fires that occurred in the Genç and Kiğı districts of Bingöl. The fires that started at noon in the villages of Döşekkaya in the Genç district and Darköprü in the Kiğı district spread rapidly and damaged the forest areas. While the cause of the fires has not yet been determined, it was stated that the fires grew due to the wind.
Many teams were dispatched to the region to extinguish the fires. Fire brigade, Provincial Directorate of Forestry and gendarmerie teams are fighting the fire with a total of 5 water sprinklers, 2 first response vehicles, 4 work machines, 3 fire trucks and 45 personnel in 2 regions. It was also stated that the gendarmerie, municipality and special administration teams also supported the fire extinguishing efforts.
While efforts are currently underway to bring the fire under control, it was reported that crews will continue to work throughout the night. Citizens in the area were also reminded to be careful against the fire and take the necessary precautions.
