According to a written statement from the Egyptian Presidency, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen within the scope of the EU-Egypt Investment Conference held in Cairo. During the meeting, the attacks on Gaza and the security situation in the region were discussed.
Sisi expressed his concerns for the security and stability of the region and called on the international community. He stressed that serious steps should be taken to prevent the conflict in Gaza from expanding. He also stated that international aid should be coordinated to prevent the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to urgently ensure a ceasefire.
It was reminding that, in line with the decisions of the International Court of Justice, Israel should end its attacks on Gaza and that humanitarian aid should not be obstructed. It was emphasized that UN officials should be allowed to enter Gaza and that an investigation should be conducted into the crimes.
