Akbük Beach Opened to the Public by Gendarmerie and Police Teams
Akbük Beach was opened for public use by gendarmerie and police teams. Police teams removed the lodges, sun loungers and tables that were occupied without permission on the beach, with the help of gendarmerie teams. As a result of the penal action taken by the Menteşe Municipality recently, the club that charged a fee for entering the Akbük beach was also removed.
Public Beach with No Fee
A sign saying “This is a public beach, no fee can be charged” was placed on Akbük Beach. Due to the dangers on the beach, vehicle entry was prohibited between 09.00 and 18.00. Menteşe Mayor Gonca Köksal stated that they aim for the public to benefit from the coast free of charge and announced that the beach was allocated to the public.
Statement from the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki announced that they inspected and will remove occupations and illegal constructions that prevent access to the sea within the framework of the “Seas Belong to the People” project. Minister Özhaseki stated that they focused on the goal of clearing the beaches of illegal structures and called on the provincial directorates and governorships to follow the process closely.
