Former Foreign Minister and 22nd and 23rd term Düzce MP Yaşar Yakış (86), who passed away yesterday in ANKARA, was commemorated in a ceremony held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Yaşar Yakış lost his life in a private hospital where he had been receiving treatment for health problems related to old age for a long time. Yaşar Yakış’s body was carried on the shoulders of officials, wrapped in the Turkish flag, to the steps of the TBMM Gate of Honor. During the ceremony in the Assembly, a moment of silence was observed in Yakış’s memory, followed by a prayer. Following the ceremony, Yaşar Yakış’s body was prepared to be sent to his hometown, the Akçakoca district of Düzce.

Yaşar Yakış’s body was sent to his district and set out to be buried in Akçakoca. After the afternoon prayer, Yakış’s body will be buried in Osmaniye Cemetery, following the funeral prayer to be performed at Çuhallı Çarşı Mosque. Yaşar Yakış, who served Turkish politics for many years and is remembered with respect, will be bid farewell by his fans on his final journey.
